Parenting Through the Primary Years

Neurodivergence and Disability

Parenting a child aged 5–12 doesn’t always fit the usual parenting advice. This practical workshop explores what may be underneath behaviour and how neurodivergence and disability can shape development, regulation and everyday experiences.

It’s an opportunity to better understand your child and find practical ways to respond while staying connected. We’ll explore what may sit underneath behaviour and how neurodivergence and disability can shape a child’s development and everyday experiences.

We’ll explore emotional regulation, including why children may struggle when overwhelmed, anxious or frustrated, along with practical strategies such as sensory tools, safe spaces and co-regulation. We’ll also look at setting respectful boundaries while recognising disability-related needs, and supporting growing independence, friendships and confidence.

You’ll leave with a better understanding of your child and practical strategies you can use at home, while also considering how to look after yourself when parenting feels challenging or exhausting. Registration is essential, as spaces are limited.

This workshop is FREE and in partnership with Acorn.
