Caregiver Resilience Workshop

For parents and carers of neurodivergent children

Are you raising a neurodivergent child? Come and join us to learn strategies and tools to advocate for your family and enhance your wellbeing as a carer.

As part of Parent to Parent Nelson’s community outreach programme, Regional Coordinator, Sarah McLarin, is hosting a resilience workshop for the Takaka Neurodivergent Parenting Support Group at Mohua Social Services Community Centre.

Topics will include communication tools to advocate for your family’s needs with whānau, teachers, and medical professionals, as well as strategies to build support networks, cope with stress and enhance your wellbeing as a carer. This successful monthly support group, where parents and carers connect and share their experiences and knowledge, invites new families from the region to come and join their network at this special Parent to Parent workshop!

Jess Currin-Steer (registered social worker at Mohua Social Services) and Nicole Manson (specialist teacher of complex educational needs and learning support coordinator), who share a wealth of experience, facilitate the group.

This workshop is free, thanks to funding from Tasman District Council Community Grants Scheme and Mohua Social Services. Lunch will be provided.
