PPPR & Supported Decision-making Workshop

Do you have a disabled, neurodivergent or health-impaired family member? Learn more about family, carers and supporters’ roles when supporting your loved one to make decisions in their best interests to build the life they want.

Learn new approaches and tools from Auckland Disability Law (the only specialist disability law community law centre in Aotearoa, New Zealand), which provides free legal services to disabled people on disability-related legal issues. Workshop topics include:

  • What is supported decision-making and how to do supported decision-making
  • Enduring Powers of Attorney
  • When a welfare guardian, property administrator or property manager can be appointed under the PPPR Act
  • The role of a welfare guardian, property administrator or property manager

     

    Workshop facilitator Rachael Wiltshire, Community Legal Educator for Auckland Disability Law, has many years of experience advocating for disabled people. Rachael’s interest in the disability sector comes from her own experiences as an Autistic person. She has previously been involved with Altogether Autism as an Autistic Advisor and is a current member of the Ministry of Education’s Disability Voices Group. Lunch will be provided.
