Parent to Parent NZ presents: Champion Your Needs Workshop

Parent to Parent NZ presents: Champion Your Needs Workshop

Do you have a disabled child? Are you struggling to get what you need from education, health or disability professionals?

Many parents and caregivers feel overwhelmed with the sheer number of professionals they need to communicate with in order to get the best for their disabled child or child with a health impairment.

This comprehensive workshop will teach you how to champion your needs in any setting. From assertiveness skills and active listening to negotiation and problem solving, you will come away with a range of new tools to effectively communicate the needs of your child, yourself and your loved ones.

You will also have the opportunity to learn what specific support services and resources are available in your region. Register today to secure your spot!

Saturday 21st May, 2022

When: 9:30am—4:30pm
Where: Habitat for Humanity Nelson, 166 Tahuanui Drive, Nelson

Grab a free coffee and chat with other parents and carers who know what it’s like to care for a disabled child, a neurodiverse child, or a child with health impairments.

Parent to Parent hosts Parent Support Groups in Takaka during the school term, to support carers and parents just like you. These groups are a safe space for family and whānau to share their experiences, their challenges, their triumphs, and to learn from each other in an open and 100% judgement-free environment. No topic is too ‘weird’, no question too ‘out there’. We get it, and we are here to help.

So if you’d like to share a struggle, celebrate a success, raise a concern, or simply have a cuppa and chat with other parents and carers in your area, you are always welcome at our Parent Support Group. Children are welcome too! Drop in for as long or as short a time as you want. And did we mention there’s free coffee?
