Making PERSONAL BUDGETS work for you (Wellington)
Jul 21 @ 7:00 pm – Jul 28 @ 9:00 pm

Personal budgets include Individualised Funding; Enhanced Individualised Funding; Personal Budgets & Hosted Arrangements

Article 19 of the UNCRDP enshrines the right to live independently and be included in community. For many people this requires effective and efficient personal assistance. An increasing number of people (currently over 7,000 in Aotearoa NZ) are choosing to ‘take the money’ and use this to help create their good life.

The changes underway through EGL and Systems Transformation will see even more people take up self-management. However, getting the money is usually the easy part. Turning this resource into life enhancing outcomes is quite
another matter.

As a result of COVID 19, Parent to Parent and Imagine Better have redesigned our popular one-day workshop on making the most of your personal budget into three, two hour zoom sessions. The sessions are limited in number to encourage maximum participation and engagement so your early registration is advised.

Each session will include presentation, discussion, Q & A and resources for you to use as you take action.

Session One – Building a strong foundation (21 July)

  • What are the important elements of a good life look for me / us?
  • Creating our vision for the future we want

Session Two – Obtaining and utilising our resource (24 July)

  • How the system works – including having a positive NASC experience
  • How Self-Management works – hosts, hiring the right people and staff
management, what can I spend my money on, outsourcing, succession

Session Three – Keeping it real (28 July)

  • Real life examples of what others are doing
  • Open panel Q & A
