It opened on 1 October, 2026 at Beresford Square, by the new Karanga-a-hape City Rail Link station. The pop-up is in the window gallery, located just beyond the Beresford entrance and will run until the 31st October. Pop in if you can – it’s another great reason to visit the new City Rail Link with your family – we recommend after sunset to get the full effect! ✨“I had goosebumps seeing Adan’s actual doodles, which Arianna had carefully preserved over the years, enlarged across the ceiling and walls. There’s also a short video projected across two screens, showcasing Arianna’s camera work, with my other son, Andres, as her talent.” Angela Ramos
Navigating the loss of their youngest brother, Arianna and Andres Ramos project a moment of their life six years into their process of siblinghood and grief.
“Every day I am reminded, awake or in my dreams, the false narrative of ‘the normal body.’ And everyday you remind me, we have the power to write new stories.
“Adan’s doodles breathe out across the site. Growing up with my brother having physical disabilities, I came to understand that our architecture predetermines our ways of living, and follows invisible biases favouring ‘ideal’ bodies.” Arianna
𝒟ī𝑒𝓇𝑒, 𝒜𝒹𝒶𝓃 challenges our manmade frames, and the disability and exclusion we create. Redefining what should be up, what should be down, and what should be sideways, we redefine the expectations of normalcy in our built environments.
“Celebrating the life of Adan, I hope to encourage the thought that life inclusive of disabilities and interdependence creates a community more fruitful for everyone.” Arianna
This exhibition is possible thanks to the support of Karangahape Road Business Association, Auckland Transport and Auckland City Council. Dīere, Adan is hosted by RM Gallery & Project Space and supported by Creative New Zealand.
